What is the difference between black bar and bright bar?
Black bar is the hot rolled steel as it comes from the mill — it has a dark mill scale surface and is not yet cold drawn. Bright bar is black bar that has been cold drawn or peeled to a smooth, bright, dimensionally accurate finish. We trade the black material and also manufacture bright bar from it.
Do you supply wire rod as well as black bar?
Yes. We stock both black bar (18mm to 120mm) and wire rod in coils (8mm to 25mm), in SAE1018, EN1A, EN1A(Pb), EN8D and SAE1010. Wire rod such as EN8D Wire Rod or SAE1018 Wire Rod is supplied in coil form; black bar is supplied as straight lengths.
